Since my last report, the Thorntons have been quite active at local club 10's, mostly John, but occasionally joined by others.
Ashford Wheelers on the Q10/38
On 3rd July John did a 26.08.
10th July Don stormed round in 25.34, and steady John 26.15.
17th July Don knocked a minute off his previous with 24.39.
At the PMR 10's on the Q10/1
2nd July, John 25.57 and Russ 28.24.
Two weeks later John with a big improvement did a 25.07.
On the Rye Wheelers Q10/33 course
Steve Trek who seems to like this event did a 29.33 on 28th June, 28.46 on 5th July and 29.08 on12th July, this time joined by John with 26.24.
A week later with John and Steve away on 24 hour duty it was left to Nick, Danny and young Jack to fly the colours. Nick breezing round in 25.38, young Jack continued his improvement with another big leap foreward, 26.11 and Danny a very respectable 26.33.
Just one Thornton at the TriSpirit 10's
John of course, did another fine 25.07.
At the Interclub on the little used Q10/8
Eight Thorntons turned up on a very rare, still sunny morning on the Marsh. The eight included Brian, Danny, Don, Eric, Rachelle, Ray, Richard and young Sam. Still not seen the official times but apparently we won the handicap cup.
Unfortunately many riders missed the final left turn at the locally named Dave Wheeler's corner, including some of our own. A fantastic effort by everyone involved!
At local Open events
Don entered the Gravesend CC 25 on the Q25/8 and did a 1.04.53, Brian entered but DNS.
Finally last Sunday Brian and Don took part in the VTTA 50 on the Q50/11, both improved greatly on their previous 50, Don with a 2.16.44 and Brian 2.28.15.
